Daniel Large
Daniel Large is a research associate with the South African Institute of International Affairs’ China in Africa programme, and research director of the Africa-Asia Centre, the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, UK. He is co-editor, with Luke Patey, of Sudan Looks East: China, India and the Politics of Asian Alternatives, published by James Currey in 2011.
China’s explosive economic growth has made it a more prominent player in global development. This brings with it a host of new, multilateral responsibilities. The question is still open as to how China will respond to its new status.
