Elżbieta Korolczuk
Elżbieta Korolczuk, PhD, is a sociologist, commentator, and women's and human rights activist. She works at Södertörn University in Stockholm and her research interests include: social movements, civil society and gender (especially motherhood, fatherhood and assisted reproductive technologies). Most recent publications include the books Civil Society Revisited: Lessons from Poland, co-edited with Kerstin Jacobsson (Berghahn Books, 2017), and Rebellious Parents. Parental Movements in Central-Eastern Europe and Russia, co-edited with Katalin Fábián (Indiana University Press, 2017).
Demonstrations in Poland against an abortion ban turned into massive protests as they became an outlet for widespread frustration over governmental corruption and a crumbling democracy.
