Gery Nijenhuis
Gery Nijenhuis is a human geographer, working as assistant professor in Development Studies, at the Department of Human Geography and Planning at Utrecht University. Her research focuses on the relationship between international migration and development and participatory local governance.
Efforts to engage the diaspora undertaken within the migration & development policy framework fail to harness ‘the potential of the diaspora’. Highlighting three issues that are at stake in this referred to ‘unhappy marriage’.
