Louis Emmerij was President of the OECD Development Centre, Paris; advisor of the President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Washington DC; Head master of the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague; and Director of the ILO World Employment Programme, Genève. For the past ten years he was the Co-Directeur of the United Nations Intellectual History Project, New York.
