Gender considerations in climate change and agriculture

Gender issues have so far received little attention in the climate change debate. This despite the fact that 70% of the 1.3 billion people in the developing world living at or below the poverty threshold are women, a majority of which are women farmers.

Down to earth?

‘Our world hungers for action’, states former Minister of Agriculture Gerda Verburg on the website of the Global Conference on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change. Her message is that agriculture can help mitigate climate change. The key slogan of the conference is: Now is the time to get down to earth.
