Tim Siegenbeek van Heukelom
Tim Siegenbeek van Heukelom is a PhD Candidate at the Centre for International Security Studies at the University of Sydney. His thesis is about ‘food’ as a matter of ‘security’ and features a qualitative case study from Kenya on the phenomenon of land grabs. Tim is also the founder and author of State-of-Affairs, a blog on food, security, and development.
‘Food’ has a strong normative connotation with ‘security’, which inexplicitly links the notion of ‘food security’ to the political realm. This explains the tremendous amount of time and resources devoted towards achieving the desirable situation that we refer to as ‘food security’.
