Willemijn Dicke
Willemijn Dicke is research fellow at the Scientific Council for Government Policy in the Netherlands. She is assistant professor at Delft University of Technology. Her thesis (published in 2001) compared global narratives in water management in the Netherlands and Great Britain over the last century. Recently, she has worked on the issue of public values and how to realize or safeguard them in a context of privatization and liberalization, especially those values that are not confined to national borders.
‘Global’ and ‘globalization’ carry many meanings. Politicians are increasingly using the terms in public discourse, but often in the neoliberal sense. Understanding how ‘global’ and ‘globalization’ are used helps reveal possibilities for new national policies.
