De brief van de Staatssecretaris van Buitenlandse Zaken over kennisbeleid valt in vijf secties uiteen. Zo is ook het commentaar ingedeeld.

De kennisbrief schetst nog niet veel meer dan de contouren van nieuw beleid om kennis en onderzoek in te zetten voor ontwikkelingssamenwerking. Dat maakt het lastig om erop te reageren, om ervoor te zijn of er tegen. Maar vragen roept het wel op.

In de kennisbrief van staatssecretaris Ben Knapen komt het woord informatie niet voor. Daar dreigt een gevaar in, namelijk dat informatievoorziening als vanzelfsprekend wordt aangenomen. Vanzelfsprekend is ze niet. En gratis ook niet.

De kennisbrief die staatssecretaris Knapen op 14 november 2024 stuurde naar de Tweede Kamer staat niet op zich, maar komt voort uit een lange traditie waarin onderzoek en ontwikkeling in nauwe samenhang met elkaar staan.
