Investing for better nutrition: what does it mean?

Benoist Veillerette is a senior agricultural economist at the Investment Centre of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The Investment Centre provides support to countries in the world to develop and implement investment programmes in agriculture, poverty reduction and rural development. It often works in partnership with international financing institutions such as development banks. Over the past few years, Benoist has worked with country counterparts, nutritionists and various partners in concrete ways to improve the impact of these investment programmes on reducing malnutrition. Supporting the most effective nutrition sensitive investments is driving his current work in the FAO, in particular in South Asia.
