John Ryan
Professor John Ryan is a Fellow at London School of Economics Ideas (International Strategy and Diplomacy). He was a fellow at the St Edmund's College, University of Cambridge, London School of Economics and Political Science Centre for International Studies and the European Integration section of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Berlin, Germany. He also works as a senior adviser for private and public sector organizations. Professor Ryan has edited two books with Peter Lang Publishers, The Global Currencies Conundrum, published in 2014, and Towards a Resilient Eurozone – Economic, Monetary and Fiscal Policies, published in October 2015. Professor Ryan’s current areas of research are: the Eurozone crisis, global currencies, and Britain and the European Union.
The European Central Bank is holding together a poorly-designed monetary system in difficult circumstances. But this does not justify the fact that democratic governments have no way of holding it accountable.
