Carlos Oya is senior lecturer in political economy of development at the School of Oriental and African studies, University of London, UK. His research focuses on agrarian relations of production and labour, rural poverty and agricultural policies from a perspective of agrarian political economy. He has done extensive field research in different parts of sub-Saharan Africa and is also co-editor of the Journal of Agrarian Change.
