Andris Piebalgs is the current Commissioner for Development for the European Commission. He is also Member of the UN High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. He was previously European Commissioner for Energy (2004-2009), Deputy Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia (2003-2004), Minister of Finance of Latvia (1994-1995) and Minister of Education of Latvia (1990-1993).
