Karoline Van den Brande is a research fellow at the Institute for International and European Policy (University of Leuven, Belgium) and a member of the Flemish Policy Research Centre for Sustainable Development. She is finalizing a PhD on the involvement of the Belgian subnational government of Flanders in international decision-making on sustainable development. Her research focuses on the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, the OECD Annual Meeting of Sustainable Development Experts and the EU discussions on the EU’s sustainable development strategy. Karoline is also preparing an edited volume on subnational governments and sustainable development, with Hans Bruyninckx and Sander Happaerts, to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2012.
