PUPs for sustainable water development

David Hall is director of the Public Services International Research Unit (PSIRU) at the Business School of the University of Greenwich, London. He researches and teaches the politics and economics of public services and privatisation, including PPPs, especially in the sectors of water, energy and waste management, the strategies of multinational companies and IFIs, the economic and social role of public spending. He has published many reports, journal articles and book chapters on these subjects, and led a major EU-funded research project on the water sector, Watertime.PSIRU is core financed by Public Services International (PSI). Before becoming director of PSIRU, David Hall worked as a researcher for UK trade unions for over 20 years.He has been an invited speaker at meetings of international institutions, including the World Bank, UNDESA, UNCTAD, ILO, OECD, European Parliament; academic conferences on economics, law, politics, environmental issues, history and labour relations at many universities and research institutes; and trade union and civil society meetings in over 40 countries, on all continents.
