The Broker dives into ‘New Waves of Civic Power’

Each year CIVICUS publishes its ‘State of Civil Society Report’, which shows how civic space is being restricted by a variety of factors that constrain civil society’s rights and freedoms. While such analysis and monitoring is an important first step to turning this trend around, what is needed is a conscious re-focusing of attention towards efforts already committed to defending and expanding civic space. This project seeks to do just that. By sharing the many inspiring examples of constructive action initiated by people all over the world, this project aims to provide inspiration and energy to organizations, movements and individuals trying to defend their civic rights and freedoms.

A report of the project is expected to be published in July.
