Joost Herman is director of the Humanitarian Action Programme, Groningen University, and director of Globalisation Studies Groningen, the Netherlands, an institute conducting research on globalization, development and humanitarianism. Joost Herman studied international law and history at Leiden University, and defended his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Law, Human Rights Institute, Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
